Tony Vourou

Local Authority Governor

Elected 2019
I have been a governor at St. John’s since 2000, first as a parent governor and then as a representative of the Local Authority. Before that I had previously served as Chair of the PTFA. My children Penny and Nicholas were both pupils at St. John’s – Penny is now studying medicine at King’s College London and Nicholas is in his first year at Bristol studying Chemistry.

I enjoy being part of the school community and getting to know children through the Chess Club and through the tours I do for prospective parents.

I am active in the local community and have strong links with the Greek Orthodox Church, often catering for special events and notable guests such as local councilors and the Archbishop of Cyprus. As a businessman I am able to use my skills on the Resources Subcommittee, scrutinizing the budget, school outgoings and holding the school to account.

It is a pleasure to serve on the Governing Body and be part of such a dynamic group where everyone works together to achieve the very best for the pupils.
