MATCH REPORTS: INDOOR ATHLETICS
On Wednesday 8th November a group of Y5 and Y6 children went to an indoor athletics event at Q.E Girls school. We all took part in a wide range of activities. Boys and girls were raced individually on track and field events. We competed in many events including: Obstacle relay, standing long jump, double relay and chest push.
Out of twelve schools St Johns came 4th which is an amazing achievement.

KS1 ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ at Allianz Park Children from Years 1 and 2 were chosen to take part in this annual event at Allianz Park, the home of European Rugby Champions Saracens. The activities take place on the indoor training running track (used by 2012 London Olympians). The children have a morning of fun taking part in a wide range of activities run by young sports ambassadors from local secondary schools and supported by our very own ‘Bronze Sports Ambassadors’ chosen from Y5. As you can see from the photos, a great and active time was enjoyed by all!
Netball is back where it belongs! In truth netball at St. John’s had rather slipped from its pedastal in recent years but thanks to Ms. Dobie and Mr. Newman, it’s back where it belongs as one of or most popular sports. The squad train every Wednesday lunchtime and this year the team have performed remarkably well. This was evident recently when the team took part in Barnet’s annual tournament at Copthall Girls’ School. The team won 1, lost 1 and drew 2 games. It wasn’t sufficient on this occasion to proceed to the finals but the team represented the school with pride. Well done all.
Congratulations to our girl’s football team: our girls are having a fantastic season and on Wednesday 31st January they reached the final of the East Barnet sector 6-a-side football tournament against 17 other teams. Unfortunately they lost on penalties but they did us proud with their performance, their team spirit and their commitment. The team now proceed to the borough final where the top four team from each region will compete against each other. Good luck girls!
